Nelanelli immunity booster, home remedies :
Bhumyamalaki or nelanelli which is commonly called stone breaker is a shrub. Bhumyamalaki scientific name is Phyllanthus amarus. In India Phyllanthus niruri, Phyllanthus fraternus varieties are also grown.
It grows as a weed in humid places. Its height ranges from 10-25 cm and sometimes it grows as crowded and sometimes as a single plant. It is a seasonal plant. It grows in mansoon season.
It is a special medicinal plant that grows on its own in many areas. Its leaves are very small looks like amla tree leaves. Small tiny fruits are found under the leaves.
The whole plant is used in medicine and mainly it is used to cure jaundice and diarrhoea. It has antiviral and diuretic properties.
This plant tastes bitter.
Phyllanthus amarus variety has green leaves, stem,s and fruits whereas phyllanthus niruri variety has light reddish leaves with a green stem which is a larger plant than that of amarus.
A healthy person can also use this plant juice to prevent any liver problems. It is a coolant for our body.
Nelanelli in home remedies :
The decoction prepared using the whole plant is used to cure an enlarged liver and jaundice. In the case of jaundice, plant juice is taken with milk or buttermilk twice a day.
Bhumyamalaki juice removes urinary tract stones and gall stones.
It also used to get relief from ulcers, indigestion, and acidity.
In case of fever, its decoction is used.
Studies have shown that it may help to prevent liver damage and inflammation and controls the fatty liver disease.
Nelanelli leaves paste is applied to the skin to cure skin inflammation, swelling and itching.
Nelanelli leaves juice used in case of nose bleeding.
As it is a diuretic, it may help in controlling high blood pressure, more research needed on this.
