Parijatha medicinal plant in home remedies
Parijatha, a long living plant which is called night jasmine and also coral jasmine. It is also known as Harsingar in Hindi.
The flowers of this plant blossoms at night and withers at early morning. Its flowers has special fragrance and this spreads around the plant as the flower blooms at night.
Its flowers have white petals with bright orange red stalk which makes the flowers eye catching. As the flowers blossoms at night itself, daytime the flowers loose their brightness.
Parijatha is a sacred plant and it is used in home remedies. Its special properties are explained in Ayurveda and it is used in Ayurvedic medicine.
In Indian Mythology it is said that parijatha plant born during amrit manthan and it is called tree of heaven. The flowers are specially offered to Lord Krishna.
For medicinal purpose parijatha flowers, bark, and leaves are used. Parijatha leaves are used for the treatment for malaria fever, stomach worms, arthritis. Its seeds are used to treat dandruff and bark of the plant is used to treat phlegm.
Parijatha leaves have antioxidant, anti pyretic and anti inflammatory property.
Its flower's stalk is orange in colour which is used as dye for clothes.
Parijatha in home remedies
Parijatha leaves are washed and juice taken from it and it is mixed with same amount of honey. Take this preparation three times a day with adding salt which controls fever in case of malaria. It also reduces the fever due to dengue, chikungunya and other viral fever.
Its leaves juice is taken with fresh ginger juice with water cures recurring fever.
It is also used to treat snake bite as it is anti toxic.
Honey and salt is added to parijatha leaf juice removes stomach worms in children. This preparation should be taken before lunch.
Parijatha leaves juice with honey taken two times a day reduces swelling and pain in body. It also strengthens the bones.
Its leaves juice with honey reduces the symptoms of arthritis and sciatica. It also cures the old pain in fingers, joints, knee joints pain which is due to chikungunia and other viral fever.
Applying parijatha seeds paste on scalp and washing it after half an hour which removes dandruff.
Bark of the parijatha tree mixed with betel leaf and chewing this which removes phlegm.
Its juice also helps to cure digestion problem and constipation.

Night jasmine or parijatha herbal tea
Boil 3-4 flowers and 2-3 leaves of parijatha and 2-3 tulsi leaves are boiled with water. The decoction prepared taken with honey. This tea is very healthy tea and improves bone strength. It relieves from pain in joints.
Cultivation of parijatha plant
You can grow this plant by sowing seeds and also by plant cuttings. Plant cuttings are soaked in water and its tip is dipped in root hormone and planted in pot or soil. You can use cinnamon powder as root hormone other than chemical hormone.
Keep this plant covered with plastic sheet and keep it in shade. It takes 10-15 days to grow roots. It takes one year to produce flowers. Flower is produced during October to November.
