Chakramuni soppu medicinal value, in the recipe
Chakramuni plant is called multivitamin plant and the name itself suggests that multivitamin plant speciality. This plant is called Chakramuni in Kannada, Madhuracheera in Malayalam, Thavasi keerai in Tamil and in English it is known as sweet leaf and in Indonesia, it is known as Katuk. The scientific name of the chakramuni plant is Sauropus androgynus.
It is a perennial shrub that grows 1-2 metres. It has dark green leaves which taper at the end. The leaves resemble curry leaves. It is commonly found in evergreen forests.
Chakramuni leaves are used as a leaf vegetable and it is used in the preparation of many dishes in South Asian countries. The leaves are used in soups, rasam, chutney and in curries. You can also use raw leaves in the form of juice.
In countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand chakramuni leaves soups and salads are a very popular food.
Chakramuni plant leaves are rich in vitamins and minerals makes this plant a nutritious herbal plant and people are using this plant for ages.

Cultivation
Chakramuni plants can be easily grown by plant cuttings. It needs direct sunlight and well-drained soil.
You have to give manure to plant once in a month. It can be grown on farms, in pots in your kitchen garden and terrace garden. The plant grows up to 1-2 feet and stems are straight without branching.

Chakramuni soppu chutney
Chakramuni chutney is nutritious which goes well with rice, chapathi, dosa and idli.
Ingredients needed
Chakramuni leaves 5-6 bunches
Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
Urad dal 1 tsp
Red chilli 4-5
Salt
Cooking oil 2 tsp
Tamarind 1 tsp
For seasoning
Mustard seeds 1/4 tsp
Urad dal 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves 6-8
Coconut oil 1 tsp
Preparation
Take cooking oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, urad dal and red chilli.
when mustard and urad dal turns brown add chakramuni leaves to it and fry well.
Then grind these fried ingredients with tamarind, salt and with a little amount of water.
Next season the chutney with mustard seeds, urad dal, curry leaves with coconut oil.
Chakramuni leaves thambuli
This thambuli is taken with rice and having this thambuli regularly with food avoids malnutrition in children and women.
Ingredients needed for thambuli
Chakramuni leaves 5-6 bunches
Onion 1
Garlic 5-6 pieces
Cumin 1/2 tsp
Black pepper 1/2 tsp
Curd 1/2 cup
Ghee 2 tsp
Salt as per taste
For seasoning :
Mustard sees 1/4 tsp
Cumin 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves
Ghee 1 tsp
Preparation
Fry black pepper, cumin and adding ghee in a pan. Fry it till you get the aroma of pepper and cumin.
Then add sliced onion, garlic to it, fry it till the onion turns brown.
Next, add chakramuni leaves and fry well.
Grind fried ingredients with salt, adding a little amount of water.
Finally, add curd to it.
Season this thambuli with mustard seeds, cumin, curry leaves and ghee.
